sunsets at the temple
while we were in johannesburg, we stayed with some family friends from texas who are currently serving as missionaries at the temple our church built in johannesburg in 1982. we like to visit lds temples whenever we can on our travels, and staying with the johnsons helped us to learn a lot about this particular temple and the church members that come from all over africa to worship there. the temple and its grounds are a gorgeous haven in the city of joburg, and the faith of those that serve and make promises with god there is super inspiring.
we went to the temple after our awesome experience at the rhino and lion nature preserve. we got there right as the sun was gloriously setting, and we felt so much peace and joy on the grounds and then inside the temple. it was a really wonderful evening.
after we returned from our kruger park safari (coming in the next post!), we went back to the temple grounds to meet the johnsons (i can’t believe i didn’t get a picture with them – they were the most amazing hosts), again at sunset. so much beauty and so much peace.
i truly believe that our temples, of which there are 147 worldwide (and 26 more being built!), are sanctuaries where we make real covenants with god. there are few things i love more than visiting a temple i’ve never been to before! it was great joy to be at the temple in south africa.
Beauty pictures. So fun to see this temple located all the way around the world!
