time for another road trip adventure

at 5pm on friday, kelsey picked me up at the office and we transferred my backpack, sleeping bag, pillow and tent into her car, opened a bag of pirate’s booty and hit the road.

the destination was yosemite national park. we munched and talked and sang along to folksy songs and oohed at the nearly full moon over the long stretches of highway.

we found a bit of flat ground off a side road close to the entrance to the park and pitched our tent.

we woke up at the crack of dawn and set off bleary and starry eyed for 1.5 days surrounded in scenery like this:

yosemite blew me away. i had high expectations, which we exceeded.

kelsey and i are weirdly good at having awesome road trip adventures together. there’s some fantastic karmic force that lends us perfect weather, magical moments, impeccable timing, and even a national-parks-free-day coincidentally on the saturday we’d been planning to explore yosemite!

john muir wrote while in yosemite: “everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.”

much more to come…
