This is a post of pure happiness and I love it! I have been following your journey and that smile of yours shines so bright in these photographs! After a hard day of interviewing, this has actually made me smile.
yay yay yay! so the boyfriend you were telling your students about was the same boy all along. how sneaky of you! are those wedding bells i hear in the distance...
He was a fool to let you go the first time! So happy for you! Like others said, we never met, but I've gotten quite 'attached' to you and your blog updates :) Here's to a wonderful life with a wonderful (albeit at first quite idiotic ;)) boy!
Random reader here but I've enjoyed reading about your journey, especially since I grew up in the Bay Area but moved away last year.
I am so excited for you! My husband and I dated for a couple years, broke up, reunited and will celebrate 8 years of marriage next month. Wishing you and the boy the same happiness!
I might be the only one who isn't completely ecstatic. Considering how heartbroken you were and how better you recently seemed (or was he already back?), I really hope he is sure about getting back together.
But both of you do look very happy and I wish you all the best. And it took my boy three months from our first kiss until we started a relationship. Afterwards we've dated for almost ten years and married last year.
I notice thatthe enthusiastic comments are from folks that know you through your blog and there is a lack of comments from family and friends. I wonder if the people in your life are feeling protective of you for good reason? I was in a very intense "on again off again" relationship and the love was true (still is?). I'd like to warn you of the complicated cycle you are embarking on. If he's back to stay I suggest making a commitment now.
charity, this is joy! hope you overlook a couple of previous commenters -- no one who's fully soaked up the honesty, loveliness, intentionality, grit, and depth you so generously share on your blog would ever doubt your ability to navigate your wide-open, indescribably gorgeous heart.
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!!!! Such good news, I hadn't checked your blog for a while, and you will not believe this Charity, but I had just received an email from a heartbroken cousin, and as I was reading it, I was reminded of you, and I thought 'I wonder how that Charity is doing' so I opened your blog and my jaw just dropped open... Wow, I really think this is an sign from above- this means my cousin will get her guy back, too!!! You and him look so good together, you two are unimaginably perfect in every sense of the word!!!
This is Charity's protective Dad....just checking in and saying that the Boy, against all odds, won me over completely and I am a total believer in his come-back! It's one thing to make a mistake, but its something quite wonderful to rectify and redeem and redirect, and he has done so! Profoundest blessings to this great, world class and world changing couple! Dad Eyre
I read your blog for about a year now, and I just wanted to say that I'm truly happy for you, it's an amazing news. Whishing you all the best. Noa from Israel.
Please take this with a grain of salt. This man is not the right man for you. You may be in love but I do not see you to ever being married. He is all wrong for you.
Seek a man with integrity like your sweet Dad. Annie from Canada
My second comment today, but I just wanted to say that you look like your sister Shawni from 71toes and with the way you described teaching, I really think you're like her on the inside, too- she is a woman of grace and I just think she's your future- I see you raising your own future kids with the same grace and elegance she does.
(Does the teacher in you want to reprimand me for my one over-extended sentence which should've been broken into 3 or 4? Sorry:P)
Your smiles are priceless. Your dad rocks. I will tell you I don't know you but enjoy reading your blog. I knew he would be back in your life. Best of luck.
You don't know me but I follow your blog. I am a grandmother and married for 45 years. The same thing happened in our relationship and we both dated others and in a few months we were back together and married shortly after. I always maintained that as painful as the breakup was, our marriage was stronger because of that. I am of the same faith as you and I feel like many of the men take the commitment of marriage very seriously in almost wanting a heavenly revelation to tell them who and when to marry :) I was so happy to see you are back together and I wish you both the very best.
AAAAAAAAAAH! That is the scream I yelled out loud in my kitchen this am with a smile on my face, surrounded by my 3 children who looked at their mother with wondering eyes at why I was so happy:) I told them of the perfect love story of a girl falling deep in love then having her heart broken then the boy coming back and they are now both deeply in love! I don't know you, but I feel like I do and I am so so so happy for you! God bless you both :) and AAAAAHHH:) :):)

There is no sin or character flaw in breaking up with someone. Whether they are meant for each other only they can decide.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck.
Congrats!! I love your dad's comment!
