baby wearing is my jam. it makes both moses and i so happy, and i’m so glad our beating hearts have been so close so often.

our baby wearing journey got off to a super positive start with a nesting days newborn carrier.
nesting days carriers are made especially for brand new babies and are so awesome in so many ways for those first crazy, precious weeks. starting the afternoon we got home from the hospital, i wore moses in our nesting days carrier every single day for quite a while, and seriously felt so so thankful for it. as moses has grown, we’ve added a couple other carriers to our baby-wearing arsenal, but i still love using the nesting days carrier often, especially when i need to put moses on quickly. it is remarkably fast to put on, super easy to use and incredibly comfortable. i’m just sad that moses has nearly outgrown it (but already so glad i’ll have it for our next newborn)!

one really cool and unique thing about the nesting day carrier is that it is specifically designed to be worn skin-to-skin with baby. there are so many benefits of skin-to-skin contact with newborns (for both mom and baby!), and nesting days allows for lots of that – hands free! wearing just my nursing bra on top, i pop moses in the carrier in just his diaper – and i can get stuff done around the house or around the city while snuggling with my little boy skin-to-skin. (of course the carrier can also be worn with clothes underneath for activities when skin-to-skin doesn’t make sense.)

^^ our nesting days carrier made outings in the very first days of moses’s life not only possible, but so enjoyable. moses looooved to take in his surroundings or snooze while snuggled close in the carrier as a newborn (and still does now)! ^^

^^ snug as a bug on the way to a follow-up appointment at the hospital at six days old. it was so easy to slip moses in the pouch and be safely and happily on our way. that’s a big thing when there’s so many adjustments and worries in those first weeks.^^

^^ postpartum recovery and the transition into motherhood can be rough. the nesting days carrier is one thing that significantly made our lives easier and happier. it always calmed moses and allowed me to get out and about without any hassle. ^^

since moses is almost too big for the nesting days carrier (the fabric is incredibly stretchy and  forgiving so he fit in this little happy pouch for several months, but these days he’s starting to want to stretch his legs a bit more!), i had ian take a few photos of us wrapped up together skin-to-skin the other day.

some things i especially love about the nesting days carrier:
**it is sooooo easy and quick to put on. this makes it hugely stand out among our collection of baby carriers. it takes me literally twenty seconds to get moses comfy in there. when i take him out to eat or play, i don’t have to readjust or redo anything – i can just pop him back in.
**the stretchy fabic is awesome. it keeps moses perfecly snug but not squished with virtually zero adjustment. aaaaand it feels mighty nice on a postpartum body. that spandex panel below baby? believe me – it’s awesome after you’ve recently given birth.
**it’s simple and sleek and looks nice with anything. it’s more of an article of clothing than an extra bulky carrier.

when moses and i have been out and about wearing nesting days, many friends and strangers have noticed the carrier and marveled at how neat it is and inquired about where i found it. the nesting days carrier is definitely among my very top recommended products for any new mom. it has genuinely made our lives significantly happier.

^^ can we talk about moses’s hair pattern on the back of his head?! haha – one day it will be a nice even coat again :) ^^

  1. This makes me want to have another baby just so I can wear them around skin-to-skin. Snuggling a newborn is just about the best thing in the world. Wish I would have had one of these carriers 12 years ago!

  3. Why not a stroller

    1. Baby wearing is very popular and cheaper to buy. Strollers are expensive and hard to store in smaller homes/apartments. Makes sense to me!

    3. In my experience, baby carriers like this are way more convenient and versatile than an stroller, especially in a city. I have five children and used a baby carrier similar to this for three of them but wished I'd had one for my first and I use an ergo for our youngest, because my wrap had worn out and the ergo was a hand me down. It's totally a personal preference thing though.

    4. we plan to eventually buy a stroller, but have loved exclusively baby wearing so far. as others have mentioned, baby carriers are cheaper, easier and (this is a huge one for us in a tiny flat up two flight of arrow stairs-) more compact. but even if we had a stroller, i would still wear moses often. he is (and most babies are, i've heard) very soothed by being in a carrier and naps very well when he is strapped to me or ian. baby wearing allows me to be hands free around the flat when moses just wants to be held, and there have been many studies that show the many varied benefits of baby wearing for both mom (and dad!) and baby - especially when that wearing is skin-to-skin, like in the carrier i have reviewed in this post! baby carriers are also a much better option when taking little ones on bumpy paths or hiking trails ... or anywhere with lots of stairs, like the underground here in london! baby wearing has been such a sweet experience for me and has bolstered my love and affection for, and patience with moses. i also anticipate that baby wearing will be very helpful when another child eventually joins our family!

    5. Charity, I don't understand the last argument. Because a stroller for two is even bigger? Or because you only need a stroller for one and can put the other in the baby carrier?

    6. i just imagine trying to play with a toddler and hold a newborn at the same time... hands free will be pretty nice! :)

  4. You're the cutest! Babywearing is bomb. My 15-month-old loves being in the ergo for walks with our dog and sometimes I can toss her on my back for chores around the house. Love it!

  5. I also live in a large city/small apartment! I am due in March with my first and am debating whether or not to buy a stroller. We have an elevator in our apartment and could store the stroller in our entryway (although it would be tight!). If possible, could you let me know of any other carriers you would recommend? It seems like nesting days plus the ergo serve you well? Also, are there any situations when you do wish you had a stroller? Thanks, Charity!

Has Moses slept in it much?
