 ^^ i found it interesting to discover that - when i used that nifty website that pulls up your “top nine” pictures from 2017 on instagram - my most “liked” shared images were not from the travel adventures we had this year (and we had some  truly epic ones! ) but mostly from simple joys at home. i liked those bits the best too. ^^ to be frank, there’s a part of me that is excited to put two thousand seventeen firmly in the past. it was a rough year for me in some significant-to-me ways, and i experienced some truly breathtaking lows.  but , 2017 also brought so so many incredible highs, and lots of exciting growth, and a boatload of delight in our little mo (and then also in baby brother!). and as i’ve looked back at the year now gone, i have felt truly blown away by how packed with goodness and adventure and learning these last twelve months have been. my life is extraordinarily beautiful, i am outrageously privileged, and i feel so so so grateful! the y...

^^ january – december 2016 ^^ two thousand sixteen was the best year of my life so far. it was so full of different brands of wonder and challenge and joy. i became a mother, i improved as a wife, i evolved and deepened as a human. the year was full of exciting adventures, which were really awesome but are so so overshadowed by the glorious growth in my family and my faith. ian, moses and i enjoyed so many aspects of living in one of the world’s greatest cities and we traveled to fifteen different countries. but when i think of the best part of this year, i think of laying in bed, in the dark at 3am, listening to the heavy and somehow melodious breathing of my husband and my son on either side of me, and feeling a thrill of gratitude from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. as i look back on two thousand sixteen, memories laden with sweetness and gladness fill my veins. to reminisce, express thankfulness, and celebrate - here are sixteen little vignettes from the ye...

an entire week (plus a day!) of two thousand sixteen has already passed, and i’m still registering that two thousand fifteen is over. two thousand fifteen was truly an epic year for us. this morning i took some time to reflect on some of my highlights. one. in january, we went on a whirlwind trip to switzerland, sweden and england for job interviews. it was the boy’s first time overseas! two. in february, we celebrated our first valentine’s day married (and it was, true to form, not perfect) and, on that sunny san francisco day, made the decision to move to london. three. we spent the first three weeks of march planning our around the world trip, selling/storing all our belongings, and finding the best backpacks for our eighty day voyage. on march twenty second, we began our epic adventure . {we had sooo many incredible experiences in our travels around the world and it’s pretty near impossible to pick just a few as highlights from the year. it’s very possible that i’ll come bac...
