one very christmasy day

saturday, december 5, 2011:

1. a 5 mile run along the beach with beloved roomies. we all went together! sunshine. salt air. so alive.

2. cutting down a christmas tree in the mountains. just like last year. except harder to make a decision on the tree. and sunnier. and maybe even a tad more wonderful. eeeeep i was super excited.

we had a pretty tough time settling on which tree to chop…but finally found a winner!
then each roomie took a turn sawing!

we met santa, who gave us candy canes, let me pull his beard, and requested a picture on his own camera.
then we slapped the 9 foot tree on top of jana’s car and brought it into our home!

3. baking a surprise christmas cake. i was supposed to make it the night before for the ward party and got stuck at work. so i made krystle and kelsey come over and eat some, and my roommates ate some more for breakfast. i just really like baking these days. and cutting into colored surprise cakes? thrilling.

4. (self-guided) christmas lights of san francisco tour (also just like last year) with josephine and kelsey. sparkly and enchanting night again –huzzah! and…santa was on our trolley car. we stepped on the f train and there he was. real beard.

union square is dazzling, and the plaza hotel is fabulous! the painted ladies and golden gate bridge made entirely out of gingerbread! our last stop was the (literally) sparkling tree at pier 39:

1+2+3+4 = christmastime warmth and delight. magical, indeed.
