this wintry grey morning i’ve been exploring and eating chocolate and raclette pretzels while the boy is in meetings. it feels dreamy to be here (both in the lovely sense and the jet-laggy sense)!
Basel!! Enjoy your visit! I spent a few days exploring there years ago while visiting my cousin (works for BIS) and his family who live in Basel. It's fun to see photos. Hope all goes well!!!
Looks great! Did you quit your job? How are you able to get so much time off? And by meetings, do you mean job interviews? He is not employed yet, right?
She just needs to call it what it is. And no - I would never hire him for any position - ever. Please. He's a joke. And since neither one has an income - who's paying for these trips? Good thing he married well.
Anonymous: Wow. What concern is it of yours who is paying for these trips? And I still find it funny that you keep such close tabs on people you call "a joke." You can't seem to leave them alone. You did get one thing correct, he did marry well. He married into a wonderful family. He seems to come from a wonderful family as well. -Reader in the Northwest
Anonymous #1, why are you so negative?? "He's a joke" - you sound like a bitter ex-girlfriend. Just leave them alone with your antipathetic & antagonistic comments. YOU are the only joke around here.
ooookay anonymouses -- there are a lot of things up in the air in our lives right now, so i'm not sharing (and certainly am not obligated to share) specifics. i am happy for the comments section to be a forum for discussion, but i can't let anyone call my (incredibly kind and earnest, stanford-educated and crazy smart, tremendously hardworking, fun and funny, truly wonderful and golden hearted) husband a joke without a rebuttal. he's actually a fantastic and successful human being.
Charity, I have followed your blog for quite awhile, but I don't think I have ever commented though I love how and what you write. This time, I can't resist. We lived in Basel for 16 months back in 2010-2011. It is the perfect place from which to explore Europe and has its own charm. I would move back in a heartbeat. Have a great time!
I too have followed your blog for a while now and couldn't belief my eye when I saw your blog post. You are in Basel, my hometown. We haven't lived there for 30 years though as we've been living abroad all this time mostly in Asia and Australia. But we are moving back very soon to the most lovely little city on the planet. Enjoy!
