fourth of july

we got back to utah from our 47/48/49 road trip just in time for the fourth of july.

the past three years we have spent independence day with the boy’s extended family in provo – such a good place to celebrate in and such good people to celebrate with.{last year here; the year before here} i love it. each year we get up early to see the hot air balloons, spend time with siblings, watch the parade, drink byu creamery chocolate milk, attend the big family bbq in grandma and grandpa’s back yard, take a nap in the hammock, get a milkshake at purple turtle, and watch, from the front lawn, the little fireworks shot off by uncles and cousins as well as the big fireworks reaching into the sky from the distant stadium of fire. i love it!

oh and of course every year we wear patriotic outfits (and take a photo in the grandparents’ back yard)! this year ian added in a shirt from the uae in light of our travels and union jack socks in light of our impeding move :)2015-07-04 07.10.292015-07-04 07.09.53 2015-07-04 07.10.102015-07-04 07.12.04 2015-07-04 07.20.002015-07-04 07.30.40-2 2015-07-04 07.31.342015-07-04 15.46.40

^^ they didn’t send off the hot air balloons this year, because it was too windy. but at least we got to see them fill up! it was fun to be there with ian’s brother brigham + his wife lucia and ian’s sister sarah. we also met up with my dear friends lisa and megan! lisa had extra tickets to the pancake breakfast being served by the balloons so we all go to get some! ^^

i really love the fourth of july – i think it’s one of the top five days of the whole year! crazy to think that we will probably be celebrating the next few independence days in the country from which we fought to break away from for independence! we will miss the traditional provo stuff, but you better believe we’ll be donning our patriotic outfits in the uk! and definitely eating some milkshakes.

i’m really grateful for the united states of america. and that divine byu creamery chocolate milk…
