happy birthday, ian!

this past sunday was ian’s birthday. i love an opportunity to celebrate this wonderful, wonderful boy. i am so so so glad he was born and so so so glad he is mine.

leading up to his birthday, i emailed ian several lists of thirty three things i love about him – from his great head of hair to his genuine constant desire to serve others to his sense of adventure to his quirky mannerisms. when i completed each list i had about a hundred other things on my mind that make him the awesomest. he has a golden sparkly heart and is only getting better with age.

we were lucky to have my brother and his family in london with us this weekend to help us celebrate ian’s birthday! we had all sorts of fun around the city all together leading up to the big day…IMG_9687
and then on sunday after church had a little pizza and cake party at a special spot with amazing views over london:

we went to the rose garden in regents park on sunday evening and my brother snuck this photo of the boy opening the birthday present i made for him:

i am so lucky to share life with ian wright. i am consistenly blown away by how wonderful he is to me and for me – as we learn about each other and grow together.

one of my very most favourite things about ian is how well-balanced he is: he is the most earnest person i’ve ever met but he’s also really silly and really fun; he is direct and bold while also being very kind-hearted; he is careful and thorough and at the same time delightfully spontaneous. he’s remakably good at looking at all sides of an issue and he makes friends with people from all walks of life – he’s always making everyone feel important and valued. i love being his companion so much – because he takes care of me, encourages me, challenges me, and loves me.

and i love him back, fiercely!
happy happy birthday, lover boy!

  2. Happy Birthday, Ian! Maybe now that you're 30, Charity will start calling you "the man" instead of "the boy".

  3. I know. Wow, 33. You both seem really younger. Like early 20s younger.

  5. Happy Belated Birthday to Ian:)

Looks like he had a brill day.

By the way, did you go & watch Big Ben chime at 12.00 yesterday? It's going to be missed.

    1. Julie, you need to find a new adjective other than BRILL.

  8. Here's a silly question, but one I've wondered -- how do you do your hair? I love the look of a piece along the front of your face (it's almost like a long side bang) pulled back, but just curious how you get it to stay. Thank you!
