bluegrass

hardly strictly bluegrass is one of my very, very most favourite san francisco events. i love it so much that when it fell on the same weekend at fleet week this year, i choose hardly strictly (and i really love fleet week). the crowds are incredible and the music is so wonderful and the atmosphere is so awesomely bohemian.

i have to throw some elbows to find my friends in the crowd as the lumineers played.
i got there just as they crooned “i belong with you, you belong with me, you’re my sweetheart” and everyone was bouncing and singing along.
we sat on the ground and listened to patty griffin (one of my all-time faves) sing:

and i was so so happy when the blue angels flew over the crowds in the blue sky!
so i didn’t totally miss fleet week.

we saw the head & the heart play with hoards of other fans. this picture shows about 1/4 of the crowd.

i had to go back on sunday to hear the civil wars. we sat on the hill and munched and listened.

they played an encore right as it started to get dark. i loved being with my old roomies.
