a lot (more than the weather!) can change in eight days
a week and a day after the boy and i took a photo together in trafalgar square on the fourth of july (see the last blog post!), we returned to the same spot on a walk with our three day old baby boy. it was pouring rain and our hearts were exploding with joy about and love for our little son.
so much happened in the eight days between those two photos! we experienced the biggest and best miracle of our lives.
now, we are settling into all the newness and wonder and challenges of our forever-changed world. in time, i am excited to share – but it will (and should) be a while before i will be blogging regularly. i’m too busy learning how to breastfeed, taking care of my recovery, and most of all staring at our baby boy and delighting in his every move and expression. the boy and i are both so enamored and so so so so happy. {in the meantime, i’ll be posting some pictures and tidbits on instagram if you want to follow along!}
^^ we didn’t get the birth we hoped and prepared so hard for, but we are truly grateful for the way our little man made his way into the world. i will share his birth story soon – it was truly a miracle. although we had to stay at the hospital a bit longer than we wished or anticipated, our view wasn’t too shabby! there was an amazing sunset over the houses of parliament and the river on the night of our son’s birth day. ^^
^^ his name is moses thames eyre wright. we love him so. ^^
Congratulations! Welcome to the best part of your lives :)

ReplyDeleteSo glad you finally got a few minutes to post this! He is such a treasure! You are a champion mom. It's been so fun to be here with you for this exciting event! Giving birth is so astonishing! The greatest adventure of your life has just begun. Moses has been blessed with extraordinary parents!
ReplyDeleteI am a longtime reader and want to congratulate you! I look forward to following your story of motherhood! Also, I too did not end up with the births that I had planned and hoped for and now, five years later, I still feel a twinge of sadness when I read or hear of natural birth stories. But mostly, I am so grateful that my boys arrived safely and I encourage you to continue to marvel at the miracle of birth-however it unfolded. I wish I had been as positive as you in the early newborn days. Soak it up! And take it easy-csections are no joke!
ReplyDeletethanks! i didn't have a c-section, though. i birthed moses vaginally just before the surgeon was about to cut me open. it was amazing! more details to come.
DeleteHi, Lauren! I just wanted to comment that you are not alone. I had pretty significant depression after my unexpected and unwanted c-section a few years ago. If you haven't already done so, I would encourage you to get involved with an ICAN group. Wonderfully amazing and supportive community of women. :)
DeleteOh I must have misunderstood somewhere...good for you!! That's amazing and I look forward to reading the story! Enjoy these cozy early days :)
DeleteI honestly could not be more happy for you! Congratulations!
