how was the mission?

Image
a question i've heard a thousand times since my return to the "real world" is, "how was the mission?" my answer is usually a flabergasted expression, fire in my eyes, a deep breath and - "it was so great. i loved every second." and i feel so incredibly trite, awkwardly unrepresentative, almost dishonest, completely unable to give even a sliver of appropriate passion in the response. suddenly, the conversation has moved on and i feel defeated. oh my goodness, how was the mission?? it exceeded my wildest dreams and keenest expectations a million fold, on both the hard and the fantastic ends. i could have never imagined how incredible it was; i could have never dreamed up how significant and wonderful and thrilling and heart wrenching and joyful and gutting and celestial it became. i LOVED the mission. i loved every second. who knew i had such depth of emotion, such an broad ability to love, such a overflowing adoration for the truth and such endurance to...

I'm Baaaaaack!

Well, the mission was AMAZING!!! I loved every second of my time as a representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. You'll hear more about my passion for the mission in no time, I presume. I'm getting used to the feeling of wearing trousers, sorting out what I say that is English lingo and therefore undecipherable by ordinary Utahns, forcing myself to watch movies, and reacquainting myself with the internet. NOW... To blog or not to blog, that is the question... I had this urge tonight to blog...where did that come from? I have some sort of inner need to document my life via the Internet. Hmmm, well at this point anything that brings some inner happiness is legit with me... So here's what I've been up to since I have been home from the mission. The night I got home I went straight up to Bear Lake and the whole family (all 36, except the sleeping babies) were there to greet me. I loved the banners and I loved seeing everyone, especially my nieces and nephews. The day after wa...

Happy New Year!

I have three days left before I leave for England as a missionary! They sent me a tag in the mail, and after lots of shopping (and mourning the death of cute shoes in my life), a farewell, and many goodbyes, it finally is starting to feel real. I have never experienced this intense of combination of true emotions. In the past I have left home and began new things and confronted change over and over, but it has never, ever been quite like this. I had no idea such real panic/sorrow and such real excitement could coexist. Overall, I am deep down genuinely happy, knowing I am doing the right thing and enjoying all the different emotions stirring my soul. I am recognizing the tender mercies of God being shed upon me as I prepare to leave. Some pictures of what I have been up to ending 2007 and welcoming 2008: My dear friend Josephine stopped by Utah for two days on her way home from Wellesley to California. I had such a great time sharing my home with one of my best friends! We cel...
